Job Description
Design Engineer
We are currently looking for a Design Engineer position with one of the construction materials manufacturing companies in Myanmar.
The position is to be stationed in Thilawa Special Economic Zone.
Responsibilities
- Develop structural designs and layouts for light gauge steel buildings using CAD and BIM tools
- Perform structural analysis and load calculations in compliance with international building codes
- Generate detailed shop drawings, assembly diagrams, and fabrication instructions
- Collaborate with architects, clients, sale and project team to understand design requirements
- Coordinate with production and construction teams to ensure design feasibility and accuracy.
- Provide technical support during installation and site execution phases
- Offer customized design solutions based on project scope, budget, and site conditions
- Optimize designs for material efficiency, ease of assembly, and structural integrity
- Prepare engineering reports, specifications, and bill of materials (BOM)
- Ensure all designs meet relevant codes (e.g., AISI, AS/NZS, Eurocode) and safety standards
- Research new technologies and materials in light gauge steel construction
- Contribute to the development of design standards and best practices
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Structural Engineering, or Architecture
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in steel structure design, preferably light gauge systems
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Tekla, or similar design software
- Strong understanding of cold-formed steel behavior and design principles
- Familiarity with international building codes and structural standards
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills
- We prefer experience with modular or prefabricated building systems
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes for roll-formed steel components
- Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team and manage multiple projects
